Photography Workshops
Getting high school students involved
with photography and RIT

In 2016 I worked with five fellow RIT faculty members to develop the Digital Photography Workshop for High School Students. This one-week intensive summer workshop immerses students into a wide range of experiences using photography. Professors representing the advertising, fine art, photojournalism, visual media, and photographic sciences lead this course and work collaboratively to create a unique and exciting one-week workshop exploring the possibilities.

Through daily projects, lectures, demos and daily discussions the instructors will assist students in learning basic technical skills along with basic photographic skills, visual story-telling techniques and much more including high speed and stroboscopic photography. At the end of the week, students build a self published book that featuring the photography and writing from each student.

High school participants travel to RIT from across the New York State and as far away as California and Italy.
